At GSK, we have a shared purpose: to transform cancer into HOPE.

That's why e-llas was created.

It is our innovation hub dedicated to gynaecological cancer, through which we aim to make the reality of patients a collective cause.

We understand that there are numerous aspects to consider for a comprehensive approach to patients, and this is our goal.

e-llas aims to be a space facilitating the exchange of knowledge among healthcare professionals, patient associations, and strategic allies in the health sector. By integrating diverse perspectives, our partnerships strive to provide innovative solutions based on real needs, enabling gynaecological cancer patients to do more, feel better, and live longer.

In collaboration with our partners, we aspire to reach unexplored areas, enhance the knowledge we lack, and seek comprehensive solutions centered on patients.

Women with gynaecological cancer face numerous challenges in their daily lives.
Therefore, we believe it is essential to address these cross-cutting issues from the outset and collaboratively with experts.

Physical exercise

Exercise has proven to be an essential factor for both the prevention and comprehensive recovery of cancer  (1). Through e-llas, we aim to promote not only physical well-being but also the connection among patients, social support, and the motivation provided by physical activity.

“It was challenging for me to start with sports, but now I couldn’t give it up; it’s part of my routine. Besides, we do it as a group, and it’s always good to share it with other women who understand you.”

Nutrition

Dietary habits play a crucial role in the likelihood of developing gynecologica cancer and its treatment (1). It is important for patients to receive nutritional guidance to prevent malnutrition and/or improve treatment absorption (2). Maintaining a healthy diet can pose challenges, and with e-llas, we aim to address them.

“I became quite strict with my diet. I felt it was one of the few things in my control, and it also made me feel better physically.”

Sexuality

Early detection and care positively impact the sexual health of gynaecological cancer patients. Sexuality is undergoing a transformation, driven by a growing awareness of the importance of a comprehensive approach to women’s health. At e-llas, we are committed to driving this change. We seek to encourage spaces for discussion and promote access to information and support.

“Sexual relationships become something different. But you respect their timing and adapt to their needs.”

Fertility

Gynaecological cancer and some of its therapies can impact women’s fertility. We recognize the complexity of these challenges, and that’s why we aim to promote that patients have the resources to make informed decisions.

“I hadn’t considered having more children, but even so, the fact that you can’t have them affects you. It’s no longer a choice; it’s more like a sentence.”

Employment

The treatment of gynaecological cancer can impact the professional lives of patients. At e-llas, we advocate for creating a work environment within companies that fosters empathy, trust, and non-discrimination. This environment should facilitate adaptations and support the reintegration of patients into the workforce.

“When I returned to work, I felt very out of place; people treated me differently. Society doesn’t educate us to deal with patients or these types of situations.”

Emotional health

The battle against gynaecological cancer entails tensions, numerous uncertainties, changes, and challenges. In response, emotional support from professionals, as well as from family and friends, is crucial. With e-llas, we aim to ensure that patients feel accompanied and to provide them with support networks.

“Your mind is focused on healing, being strong, and hoping that the next test comes out perfect.”
